Fees & Policy
The standard session fee is $197.50 and is to be paid in full the day of the session. Eligible clients who are referred via a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan can claim a Medicare rebate of $87.50, reducing the cost to $111. Our session fees are set well below the Australian Association of Social Workers recommended fee (hyperlink document) AASW of $289 per session.
We understand that life doesn’t always go according to plan and illness, or unexpected events can arise at any time. Our aim is to be understanding and flexible when these situations occur. That said, appointment times are the foundation of our service and similar to a concert or airline ticket, whether or not they are attended, you are required to pay for your booking if cancelling or rescheduling outside of the cancellation policy. Cancellations or rescheduling less than 24 hours before of the appointment incur the full fee, and within 48 hours incur 50% of the fee; no fee applies with more than 48 hours’ notice. Cancellation fees are not Medicare-rebatable, and full payment is required at the time of cancellation, rescheduling, or non-attendance.
Clinicians are paid per session, so when an appointment is missed or cancelled late, it directly affects their income if a cancellation fee is not charged. It also limits another client’s chance to access support. We recognise
that cancellation policies aren’t enjoyable, and we’d prefer not to have to have them, however we do so to ensure we can continue providing consistent, quality care to all clients and sustain our ability to support you long-term.
Please communicate your circumstances when these issues arise. Think Well Therapy strive to provide flexibility and accommodate needs if possible.
Medicare Rebate Options
Other Medicare rebate pathways may be available via GP referrals under specific initiatives, including Eating Disorder Management Plans, Pregnancy Support Plans and Chronic Disease Management Plans.
DVA
Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) clients will need a referral from their GP to access mental health services. Your referral is valid for 12 months or 12 sessions, whichever comes first.
NDIS
Fees for Self-Managed and Plan-Managed NDIS participants are charged in accordance with the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits Guide. The standard fee for Accredited Mental Health Social Workers is currently $193.99
at the time of publishing, however this is subject to change in line with NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits Guide.
Self-Funded Referrals
You do not require a referral if you are self funding your sessions, however you will not be eligible for any rebate and the full fee will apply.
Private Health Rebates
Private Health rebates will vary depending on your individual policy. It is recommended that you check with your Private Health Provider to discuss what rebates you may be eligible for when seeing an
Accredited Mental Health Social Worker.
Other Referral and Funding Pathways
When eligible referrals are funded through WorkCover Qld, Self Refer, Priority One, EAP and Open Arms sessions are charged in accordance with the respective organisation’s schedule of fees.
You must confirm your eligibility with your funding organisation prior to your session.
